Our Goal
Sublimation printing is a craft where the difference between great results and wasted materials often comes down to having accurate, tested information. At The Sublimation Guys, our mission is simple: to be the most reliable, hands-on resource for the sublimation community – whether you’re a first-time hobbyist or a seasoned professional running a production shop.
We believe the sublimation space has too much recycled, untested, and sponsor-driven content. Our team was built specifically to fix that. Every piece of content we publish – from printer reviews to ICC profile guides to free design files – is grounded in real-world experience and direct testing, not theory or hearsay.
Our Testing Standards
Real-world testing is at the heart of everything we publish. When we evaluate a printer, ink, or blank substrate, we don’t rely on manufacturer specifications or secondhand reports. We run the tests ourselves, document the results, and share exactly what we find – including the failures.
Our testing process includes:
- Hands-on evaluation of sublimation printers, inks, and blank substrates under real working conditions.
- Color accuracy testing using ICC profiles developed and assessed by our in-house color specialist.
- Side-by-side comparisons across different brands, settings, and substrate types.
- Repeat testing where necessary to confirm consistency and rule out one-off results.
- Documentation of test conditions, equipment used, and observable outcomes so readers can replicate our process.
We never accept payment to influence test outcomes or rankings. Our results reflect what we actually observe, not what a brand wants us to say.
Our Team
The Sublimation Guys was founded by three co-founders who bring complementary expertise to every piece of content on this site. Since then, our team has grown to include a group of experienced contributors — hands-on sublimation makers and sellers who add their own real-world perspective to the content we publish.
- Ted Silverman, our print engineer and equipment specialist, brings over 20 years of hands-on experience in large-scale commercial printing facilities. He leads all printer and hardware testing.
- Glenn Schneck, our color management specialist and ICC Profile expert, ensures that every color-related recommendation we make is backed by technical precision built from more than two decades of professional color work.
- Rhonda Mattson, our crafting specialist, brings the perspective of a dedicated home sublimation creator and Etsy seller with 5 years of real-world product-making experience – keeping our content practical and accessible for everyday makers.
Every article and review published on this site is written or reviewed by a co-founder or one of our authors – all of whom have direct, hands-on experience with sublimation. Author bylines are displayed on each page so you always know who is behind the content you’re reading.
Our Sourcing Policy
When our content references external information – such as technical specifications, material science, or color theory – we rely exclusively on credible, verifiable sources, including:
- Manufacturer technical documentation and official product specifications.
- Published research from academic institutions and industry bodies related to printing, color science, and materials.
- Data from our own controlled testing and documentation.
- Firsthand accounts and verified feedback from experienced sublimation practitioners.
We do not publish facts or data points without reviewing them for accuracy. Where information is contested or uncertain, we say so clearly rather than presenting a false sense of certainty.
Our Product Reviews and Recommendations
We take product recommendations seriously because we know that the wrong printer, ink, or blank can cost you real time and money. Our reviews are based on direct testing and personal use – not press samples evaluated over a single afternoon.
Our Free Design Files
The Sublimation Guys offers a library of free sublimation design files built from our years of professional and hobbyist work. All designs are made available under a Limited Commercial License: you may use them in finished physical products for sale, but you may not redistribute, resell, or re-upload the original files.
We do not accept paid placements within our design library. Every design we share is something we created ourselves and stand behind.
Corrections and Updates
Sublimation technology, products, and best practices evolve. We are committed to keeping our content accurate and up to date. When we identify an error – whether caught by our team or flagged by a reader – we correct it promptly and note the update at the top or bottom of the relevant page.
If you notice something on our site that appears inaccurate or outdated, we genuinely want to know. Reader feedback makes our content better.
